Geethanjali
owes it's origin to a fine ivory
sculptor who started selling
his creations in Kodaikanal
in the year 1920. With the banning
of ivory in the eighties the
business diversified into antiques
and Colonial furniture.
Today, three generations later
'Geethanjali' is a name to reckon
with in the Indian antique business.
Each piece of art and furniture
found in this shop is sourced
from all over South India. Often
many an ancient house on the
verge of demolition is a store
house of treasures such as exquisitely
carved doors, windows, columns
& pillars made of Burmese
teak or even rosewood.
These are saved from being lost
to the world and are lovingly
restored to their original glory
by Geethanjali's team of 50
skilled craftsmen.
